Missions in a Risk-Averse Age
BY: Denis Haack
At times I've wondered whether the advent of bike-safety helmets for children will mark the beginning of the end of the modern missionary movement. Don't misunderstand, this is not to suggest that a concern for children’s safety is misplaced. Rather, I want us to reflect carefully on whether missions, especially in high-risk situations, can remain robust in an age as risk-averse as ours.

On my desk is a little vase of flowers cut from our yard, a little reminder of the beauty that is all around if we only have eyes to see. I've needed that reminder after reading the latest news of the horrific oil spill in the Gulf. Such glory in this world, such brokenness. Such hope, such deep need for redemption. These are the realities of life and death we seek to explore on this web site. Thank you for visiting.
