The Reason for God: Questions for discussion (I)
BY: Denis Haack
...One such gifted leader for today is Timothy Keller, pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian in New York City. His book, The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism, is must-reading, whether you are a Christian or a non-Christian. It is good for three reasons. First, it identifies and answers the questions being raised today. Second, it gives reasons for Christian faith that are accessible, thoughtful and never overstated. And third, it approaches the topic with a quiet, confident winsomeness that is all too often missing in the ungodly rhetoric of culture warriors.

A Deadly Misunderstanding, Mark Siljander (Harper One, 2008)
BY: Matthew Hundley
Christians and non-Christians often find “bridges” into each others lives through aspects of the culture which they enjoy--films, books, music and literature. When a Christian is faced with developing a relationship with a Muslim we may first look for common cultural interests as well; in doing so, however, we miss the most evident “bridge” before us: Jesus Christ.

This means, in turn, that we must expect to find ourselves intersecting with our neighbor’s religious convictions and practices—not just in the realm of ideas but in practice.

Last summer I went to Connecticut to visit the Fitzgeralds and smuggled three live ducks over Eastern Airlines for their children, but I have been inactive criminally since then.

On my desk is a little vase of flowers cut from our yard, a little reminder of the beauty that is all around if we only have eyes to see. I've needed that reminder after reading the latest news of the horrific oil spill in the Gulf. Such glory in this world, such brokenness. Such hope, such deep need for redemption. These are the realities of life and death we seek to explore on this web site. Thank you for visiting.
